The Situation in Amazon Warehouses is Escalating
Over the past few weeks, capacity challenges in fulfillment and third-party warehouses have become increasingly severe. In the U.S., the AWD 3PL warehouse has already reached full capacity as of early September – making new inbound shipments difficult, if not impossible.
Similar trends are now emerging in Europe. Fulfillment center space is tightening, and the process of sending in goods is becoming more complex by the week. At the same time, we are seeing growing bottlenecks in road freight. Transport is taking longer, becoming more expensive, and is increasingly difficult to arrange at short notice.
The reasons are clear: weaker sales during the Prime Deals period left higher inventory levels than expected, while many sellers are already stocking up early for the critical fourth quarter. This combination is putting enormous pressure on both storage and transportation capacity.
We completed our own planning at the end of August and placed inventory early. By doing so, we secure the necessary warehouse space and significantly reduce the risk of running into capacity shortages during the most important sales season of the year.
